What Are Liquid Kratom Shots? A Crash Course From Left Coast

October 16, 2022 by Jacob

Have you ever heard of liquid Kratom shots?

These tiny bottles of Kratom extract can often be found at local retailers or smoke shops, and they are often mistaken for traditional energy drinks if not closely investigated. In a way, these drinks are a type of energy drink, but they’re not what the average consumer expects. Instead, they’re formulated from a kratom extract.

Even those familiar with Kratom may not know much about liquid Kratom shots. What are they, and how are they used? In today’s blog post, we’ll explain it all!

Kratom Extracts: Liquid Kratom Shots

Liquid Kratom shots are a type of Kratom extract. These small, pocket-sized beverages are made to provide a few small servings of Kratom along with other natural ingredients. In many ways, they are similar to a small energy drink beverage.

That being said, every liquid Kratom shot is different depending on the manufacturer. Some only contain Kratom and the necessary ingredients to suspend the alkaloids; others contain other natural and energy-boosting ingredients to act more like an energy drink than a straight botanical product.

When looking at these products, remember that some have natural mitragynine content and others have a blend of natural and lab-produced mitragynine. The root of the alkaloids could make a difference in how it affects your body, and it is always important to be informed about what you are consuming.

These types of liquid kratom shots can be found in many convenience stores, smoke shops, or other natural health stores that supply kratom products to their community.

What are Kratom Extracts?

Liquid Kratom shots are a type of extract. Kratom extracts are a type of product that has been refined from standard Kratom powder. These products can be liquid, powdered, or in a capsule. Many experienced users find extracts to be an excellent way to diversify their Kratom experience.

Kratom extracts are made through an extraction process in which the powder or leaves are steeped in a solvent like water or ethanol until a more concentrated version of the alkaloids remains. The final paste made through extraction is then blended into powder or made into a liquid to form the final kratom extract product.

Pros and Cons of Liquid Kratom Shots

As with all natural products, there can be both advantages and disadvantages to giving them a try. Those used to Kratom powder or new to Kratom entirely may want to read more about the potential pros and cons of liquid Kratom shots before trying this type of product.

Getting informed is essential to making the right choices for your needs, preferences, and body. Here are some of the primary pros and cons of liquid Kratom shot users.

Pros:

  • • Incredibly convenient
  • • Easier to use
  • • Portable
  • • It doesn’t take up much space
  • • May have higher potency

Cons

  • • High concentration; not great for new Kratom users
  • • Shorter shelf life than other types of Kratom
  • • May include ingredients other than Kratom

A Guide To Honey Color, Sweetness, & Our New Product!

September 23, 2022 by Jacob

Honey: A Bee’s Sweet Gift

Honey’s a treasure created by honey bees, and it’s amazing how a bee visiting a flower can result in this sweet sugary substance. Honey bees create wax combs in their hives to store this substance after it’s made, and we, in turn, are able to harvest honey combs from the same hives.

Honey bees make honey, a thick amber-colored liquid, by gathering nectar from flowering plants. Everything from blueberry flowers to the flowing petals on certain trees is foraged by bees. Bees will gather from hundreds of thousands of flowers to get nectar and create a stable food source for their hive.

How exactly is honey made?

First, bees visit flowers and use their long tongues to gather nectar, a sugary liquid. They store the nectar in a special stomach called a crop made just for this purpose. In this stomach, the nectar mixes with enzymes and begins to change form. The bees then regurgitate the mixture, and another bee repeats the process.

Once the nectar has been transformed, it is deposited into the honeycomb. Bees then help dehydrate the liquid by flapping their wings before sealing the newly-formed honey off to protect it until it is needed.

Honey’s History

Honey is not a modern discovery. There is a history of humans using honey as far back as 2100 B.C.E., and it is likely it was used before written history existed. This sweetener has been used worldwide and held high value as a currency, tribute, and trade material.

Beeswax, the substance used to wrap and protect honey inside a honeycomb, has been used widely throughout history. Beeswax makes great candles and also works as a natural preservative in some cases. Humans have long found this treasure from bees interesting and put it to use as society developed.

Honey’s Uses

Honey is used in many different ways. What it is most known for, however, is how it is used in the kitchen.

In the kitchen, it is most often used to sweeten things. It can be used directly in tea, on crackers, or in yogurt. It also gets used as a sugar substitute in baking, soups, marinades, and mixed beverages. Natural products like shampoo, moisturizer, and lip balm also take advantage of honey’s qualities.

Honey has many antioxidants. The exact makeup of each honey alters the exact nutritional value of honey, but it’s got major health benefits. That’s a huge part of why people reach for this all-natural sweetener!

Colors and Flavors of Honey Explained

What’s the deal with all the different colors and flavors of honey?

It turns out that because bees harvest from plants local to their hive, the resulting honey of each hive differs. The color, taste, aroma, and nutritional composition of honey differ as well. All of this is dependent on where the honey bees go to collect nectar.

In some cases, it’s very easy to taste where the honey bees were harvesting. Lavender honey, for example, has a light taste and aroma of lavender as well as a light amber color. Distinguishing the exact source of honey isn’t always possible without side-by-side comparisons. Some honey bees gather from miscellaneous flowers, leading to a more well-rounded and neutral profile.

Still, there are those that prefer specific colors and tastes of honey. Mono-floral varieties are incredibly sought after for their uniqueness, but multi-floral varieties are more easily found. In the US, clover and alfalfa honey are the most commonly harvested types of honey.

The Colors of Honey

The U.S. Department of Agriculture categorizes honey by these seven colors:

  • • Water white
  • • Extra white
  • • White
  • •Extra light amber
  • • Light amber
  • • Amber
  • • Dark amber

These colors range from colorless to very dark. The color is caused by the minerals and other components in the nectar’s original floral source. Honey’s color can also affect storage time, heat, and location. Honey thickens and granulates over time, and this can also change its color.

Honey’s color creates a few general rules in the industry. Light-colored honeys are usually sweet, floral, and light in flavor; these are often summer harvest honey. Fall harvest honey is darker and has more robust, sharp flavors.

Honey Sticks: A Sweet Treat

One way that people love to enjoy honey is a honey stick! Honey sticks are straw-like containers filled with honey. Sometimes these will be specific flavors of honey; other times, they’ll be a mixture. Some farms with different honey varieties offer honey sticks as a sampling option.

Honey sticks taste good and provide a burst of energy thanks to the simple sugary structure of the honey. Most sticks contain about one teaspoon of honey. Some people use them as a way to sweeten tea, coffee, and other beverages on the go.

Just Launched: Honey Sticks from Left Coast Kratom

Our newest product has a lot to do with honey!

We’ve recently launched our very own kratom honey sticks.

These honey sticks gather up the sweetness of honey and enhance it with 25 mg of mitragynine per stick. With five sticks in each order of our honey sticks, you’ll have a total of 125 mg of mitragynine ready to go whenever you want it.

How To Know If Your Kratom Is Authentic?

August 11, 2022 by Jacob

Are you looking to buy high-quality, authentic Kratom but don’t know where to go?

This herbal supplement from Southeast Asia is gaining in popularity, with users consuming it to alleviate their depression, pain, and even anxiety symptoms.

In fact, research suggests that up to 16 million Americans regularly enjoy Kratom’s benefits. And as Kratom’s usage prevalence is increasing across the country, so is the number of vendors.

Now, while some vendors are legit and sell high-quality, unadulterated Kratom, there are also many scammers who will trick you out of your money. And what’s maybe worse is that some vendors sell fake Kratom, which can have serious health consequences.

Unfortunately, you can’t distinguish authentic Kratom from bad quality Kratom by just looking at it. The only way to avoid bad surprises and ensure you buy top-notch supplies is to buy from a trustworthy vendor.

And to help you find the right Kratom vendor, we’ve highlighted below the key things you should look for when buying Kratom.

Look For AKA GMP Qualified Vendors

Vendors import the Kratom leaves, blend them, package them, store them, and are responsible for testing them in a lab for purity and potency.

So, if you want to know if a vendor is selling high-quality Kratom products, you need to check whether they’re listed as a GMP Qualified vendor on the American Kratom Association’s website. GMP stands for good manufacturing practices.

In 2019, The American Kratom Association created the AKA GMP Standards program to set high standards in terms of the manufacturing process and ensure Kratom lovers could access authentic and high-quality products. After a strict and diligent third-party audit conducted annually, vendors that meet the program’s standards can obtain their AKA GMP qualified status.

Left Coast Kratom is proud to achieve AKA GMP compliance certification every year. Our facility is frequently audited and routinely passes inspections.

Avoid purchasing your Kratom from people on Craigslist or eBay, as this is a surefire way to receive counterfeit products.

Customer Reviews

Did you know that in 2018, 199 people across the country got infected with Salmonella?

The FDA later discovered that the outbreak was due to the consumption of Kratom contaminated with the bacteria!

Today, customer reviews are a fantastic way for new customers to assess whether a vendor is trustworthy and avoid buying contaminated Kratom. But it’s also a good way to find the best strain for you based on the feedback of other customers.

Some of the other benefits of reading online reviews include assessing real shipping times and customer service as well as understanding the company’s refund policy.

Also, as a word of advice, don’t read the first couple of reviews you see and assume that they are legit. Unfortunately, depending on the medium they’re published on, they could be fabricated. For instance, if the reviews are on Facebook, make sure to check the Facebook users’ accounts to ensure they’re real.

If the reviews are only listed on the website, and nowhere else, it could be a red flag.

Health Claims

Kratom is not yet fully FDA-approved. This means there are restrictions regarding what Kratom vendors can say about their products. For instance, they are prohibited from making any health claims such as telling customers their product can treat specific diseases or positioning their product as a medicine.

If a vendor sells Kratom claiming benefits such as ‘’stops depression or addictions, improves sexual performance or treats diabetes’’, you should look for another vendor as this is illegal, calling into question the vendor’s legitimacy.

Even though Kratom has many health benefits, more research is needed for the botanical product to be fully endorsed by the FDA. Reliable and high-quality Kratom vendors will follow the guidelines and comply with the regulations, and any vendor doing otherwise should raise a red flag.

Be Wary Of Alluring Deals

Sure, buying a Kratom product for a 75% discount is appealing.

But the reality is that when a deal is too good to be true, it’s probably a scam. Always compare pricing for the same strains and never go for extremely discounted products. If someone is offering huge discounts and selling at very low prices, they’re likely cutting corners, and the quality of your Kratom might be impacted.

And that’s a wrap!

We hope this blog post will help you source the finest quality Kratom and enjoy the many benefits of this botanical product. If you have any more questions about finding authentic Kratom, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d love to help!

The Fine Grind: What Nano Kratom has to Offer

May 31, 2022 by Jacob

Do you keep up with the latest in kratom news? Are you always excited to learn about new botanical products?

Then get ready to learn about nano kratom!

Nano kratom is a unique type of kratom powder that isn’t yet stocked by many vendors, but it is possible that you’ll be seeing more of this type of kratom in the future. Many enthusiasts are thrilled to mix nano kratom in with their usual lineup for a completely new experience.

Getting Fine with Nano Kratom

Nano kratom is a type of kratom powder. Unlike standard powders that have a relatively coarse grind, nano kratom features an incredibly fine grind. The grind is so fine that the powder can be absorbed more quickly in various liquids. Nano kratom is known for taking effect more quickly and having a shorter duration. However, this can vary.

Benefits of Nano Kratom

Why would a finely ground kratom powder be appealing to kratom lovers? Some believe that nano kratom has a few major benefits that make a difference in how the body processes the powder.

First, the finely ground powder is much easier to mix into different liquids. For those that make tea, mix kratom into juice, or other utilize the botanical in liquid, this can be a huge benefit. Even if the hydrophobic qualities of kratom cannot be completely overcome, the finely ground powder is much less gritty in liquid compared to other powder types.

Second, early research and anecdotal reports suggest that nano kratom is absorbed more quickly by the body. If true, this would likely be because the fine size of the kratom can be more easily processed and absorbed. The onset of nano kratom could be more rapid than other kratom types if the body can access the alkaloids rapidly.

Finally, some botanical vendors suggest that the quality of kratom is intrinsically better in nano kratom. Due to the milling and extensive filtration process needed to create nano kratom, they believe that more contaminants are removed.

To us, this final point is the least important. All kratom should be thoroughly tested, regardless of how it is milled. If kratom is being tested to industry standards, the milling type should not matter when it comes to safety and quality.

Making Nano Kratom: What’s the Process?

Nano kratom is often made using nano mills. Unlike disc mills which are used to process standard kratom, these mills grind the powder much more finely. During the grinding process, nano kratom is finely filtered as well.

The end result is a kratom powder made up of tiny particles that are just microns in size. This is much smaller than traditional, coarsely ground kratom powder.

Other than the difference in milling, however, there isn’t a lot of difference between nano kratom and other kratom powder. The difference in nano kratom products will come from differences in kratom leaf quality, harvesting procedures, packaging, and other post-harvest processes. Nano kratom can be made from any leaf type, and it is even possible for kratom extracts to be finely ground.

Is Nano Kratom Right For You?

Kratom users that enjoy mixing up their kratom supply may be interested in adding nano kratom to the lineup. How do you know if this product is right for you?

Can you try a new product?

First, ask yourself if you are comfortable getting to know a new product. While nano kratom is made from the same base kratom leaf, the way that your body processes it is different. This means you should take time to start with a small serving and find out if and how nano kratom works with you.

This investigative process can take some time, so you should only explore nano kratom if you are prepared to do this.

Do you have a safe source?

Another thing to ask yourself is whether or not you have a high-quality source for nano kratom. Not all vendors create this type of kratom yet, so you might have more limited options. Before trying anything new, be sure that your kratom source is reliable and thoroughly tests their products.

This is always going to be an essential part of the buying process. Pure kratom is key to enjoying this botanical safely. Until kratom vendors are all held to the same standards in the US, doing research into the vendors you support is key.

How do you use kratom?

Finally, consider how you like to consume kratom. If you are someone that does toss and wash or mix kratom into liquid, nano kratom may be a great fit. For those that create capsules, however, there might not be a huge difference in the experience.

Of course, the experience is different based on your individual physiology. Whether or not you’ll find finely ground kratom to work well for your body is up to you.

A Commitment to Quality

As of writing today’s article, we don’t have any nano kratom products available in our line. We are always exploring new options and would only add new kratom categories if we are confident that they are quality additions to our line.

If you are interested in seeing nano kratom or other new botanical products, feel free to reach out to us at any time. We’re happy to take your suggestions and answer any questions about our current lines. Our commitment is to your safety and the safety of our products, and we’ll do whatever we can to provide that assurance.

Kratom Censorship On Social Media & Elsewhere

April 13, 2022 by Jacob

There’s no doubt that today, much of our world exists in or depends on an online space. We get our information faster than ever. With that speed, there also comes the risk of disinformation and censorship running rampant.

One negative effect that the internet has on the Kratom industry is the imbalance of censorship. Due to Kratom’s murky status at the national and state level, there has been backlash and censorship on the internet for Kratom vendors, suppliers, and advocates.

Today, we’ll work together to understand better why this censorship happens and how we can better deal with it moving forward. Essentially, it boils down to the idea that social media and internet industries work closely with big lawmakers, including congress, which leads to specific restrictions.

Kratom Censorship: Showing The Limits To Free Speech

Kratom is censored in some media publications, and that’s primarily due to the way that Kratom has been lied about by many large agencies. The Drug Enforcement Agency and the Food and Drug Administration have made it clear that they have negative positions on Kratom, which has led to a severe misinformation campaign without science to support their claims.

Due to the positions of these regulatory bodies, many social media platforms and online publications keep their coverage and support of Kratom suppliers, advocates, and publishers very limited. While they may not be working against Kratom or have a strong opinion about it, it’s in their best interests to stay out of sight of the DEA and FDA.

This has led to many additional hurdles for Kratom creators, users, and suppliers that want to create a positive environment for the Kratom community. Rather than discussing their use of Kratom online openly, many have had to retreat to hidden corners or limit what they say online.

This censorship has only led to problems in the community, and it would be better if outright honesty could be had. Without being open about the goings-on in the community, it’s difficult for the truth to prevail, and misinformation runs rampant through rumors.

It’s reasonable that some media giants don’t want to give too much positive coverage to Kratom because there is still a limited amount of science on the subject, but that doesn’t mean that Kratom shouldn’t be covered at all. The only way for people to learn correct information about this natural substance is to be covered authentically, which is only happening to a minimal degree at this time.

Kratom Advertising: Strict Limitations On and Offline

Beyond simply talking about Kratom online being restricted in some ways, advertising has also suffered greatly due to the actions of the FDA and DEA. Since Kratom is not yet an approved substance by the FDA on a national scale, Google, Bing, Amazon, and other large tech companies do not permit advertising for the plant.

The FDA has issued Kratom companies that advertise their products warning letters in the past. These letters called on the companies to cease advertising to follow highly restrictive advertising rules. Social media companies that are privately owned also restrict the Kratom content permitted on their site to ensure they do not get similar letters.

What Must Be Avoided When Talking About Kratom

So, what exactly can be said about Kratom?

You may or may not have noticed this before, but even our writing team must be careful about what we say in these articles! Our blog aims to educate customers and Kratom lovers about this unique natural substance, but we can’t always use the language we want to use. We can never make medical claims about any Kratom products. You should avoid companies that resort to these tactics to sell their products.

Kratom Advocacy Expands Conversation

The only reason we have been able to get as far as we have in the Kratom industry is thanks to customers like you and Kratom advocates like the American Kratom Association. Advocacy organizations like AKA provide support to the industry by putting out accurate information and directly working with government agencies to protect Kratom and Kratom users.

Do you want to learn more about Kratom advocacy? Follow AKA’s website and social media accounts today to stay up-to-date and find out what you can do to continue pushing for safe, legal Kratom use in America.

Kratom’s Lifecycle: How Is Kratom Grown & Harvested?

March 24, 2022 by Jacob

We’re all big fans of Kratom, but do you know how it goes from being part of a tree in Southeast Asia to being a part of your daily tea? The life cycle of Kratom is fascinating and in this blog post, we’re going to look at it’s lifecycle.

This natural substance has been used for hundreds of years in its native regions. Today, it undergoes an international adventure to make it to your doorstep for your use.

What is in this process? Today, let’s talk about how Kratom is grown, harvested, and packaged into the Left Coast products you know and love.

Where Kratom Originates

The Kratom tree, also known as Mitragyna speciosa, is a tree indigenous to Southeast Asia. It grows natively in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Some neighboring countries have small populations of Kratom trees as well.

The word Kratom is derived from a Thai word used to refer to the tree. The Kratom tree is part of the family Rubiaceae, which the coffee plant is also part of among other flowering trees.

All About Kratom Trees

Kratom trees are evergreen trees that can grow over 18 meters high, and some even grow to have a trunk circumference of more than 4 meters. The leaves on the trees range in color depending on the growth cycle time, but the leaves are generally oval-shaped. These glossy leaves are produced by the tree year-round.

The round yellow flowers that appear on the Kratom tree at certain times of the year contain more than 50 seeds that spread to continue propagating more Kratom trees.

Kratom trees love wet, marshy areas, and that is where they grow best. They thrive in moist habitats where there is a lot of rainfall each year, accompanied by hot temperatures. These tropical conditions do not exist naturally in the United States, so Kratom trees cannot grow naturally here.

Kratom Trees: Their Habitat Dictates Our Product

Since Kratom trees are evergreen, the green leaves are produced year-round. Every individual leaf, however, has its own life cycle. The trees’ leaves mature and eventually fall off the tree. This process is ongoing and happens at a unique pace for each leaf, so Kratom trees have leaves of varying maturity at all times.

Kratom farmers are familiar with this process, and they know how to watch the cycle to harvest mature leaves at the right time. Once harvested, the leaves are rinsed to remove any dirt and contaminants.

Creating The Perfect Kratom Tree

It takes a long time for farmers to perfect the growing process to create the best trees for producing Kratom leaf or powder, but they have been at this practice for decades in many areas. The trees are grown according to specific conditions and harvesting practices to create the best leaves.

Everything from temperature to light to soil condition is closely monitored as these all play a part in the final alkaloid content of the processed Kratom leaves. If any of these environmental factors deviate from their typical status, it could lead to a poor harvest.

Some Kratom farmers have even created different groves of trees with different regional varieties of trees in one location. This is done through environmental manipulation, such as supplemental watering or boosting soil content to be more amenable to other developmental types.

As you can see, a lot of time and energy goes into caring for every single Kratom tree! Kratom trees generate alkaloid-packed leaves in their first year of growth, but most trees cannot be harvested from until they are at least three years old for optimal leaves.

Drying and Processing Kratom

Once the leaves are harvested, there is still a lot to be done. Farmers who are experienced in handling Kratom know just how to dry and prepare the harvested leaves.

In many cases, the leaves undergo a type of fermentation after they are harvested. The variety possible in this process has led to so many different Kratom strains.

First, farmers decide how they are going to dry the leaves. Some leaves are hung to be dried outside; others are dried in the shade. Some are dried on natural substances. Others are dried on plastic. Sometimes, the farmers combine all of those methods for a unique drying process!

The ambient humidity may be carefully controlled throughout the process to cause a slight fermentation effect, which leads to a unique development of the alkaloids in the Kratom leaves. This is how there are so many distinct strains of Kratom; each strain is processed in unique ways.

Once the leaves are thoroughly dried, some of them may be crushed into a powder to be sold to Kratom vendors worldwide. Most are crushed into powder, but some vendors want to buy whole leaves and then do their own powder grinding for additional control over their final product.

Suppliers Around The World

Due to restrictions on the production, sale, and exportation of Kratom in some Southeast Asia countries, most Kratom comes through Indonesia. Farmers here create many different regional varieties for exportation. The Kratom business can be an important source of income for many small, locally owned farms and benefit local economies in a variety of ways.

Suppliers in Indonesia gather together Kratom leaves and powders from smaller farmers and then work to ship them to vendors and suppliers overseas. The products are shipped by air cargo and freight ship, depending on the method chosen. Once received, the shipments are further processed and packaged by vendors like us!

LCK: We Package Kratom For You

This is where we come into the process! While we work closely with our overseas suppliers and play a part in what types of leaves are cultivated for our business, the most significant part of what we do happens once we receive our Kratom raw materials.

We test our products through third-party laboratories to ensure that our Kratom supply is safe. We continue to test the products we create throughout the manufacturing process for purity and quality. The Kratom powders that we receive may be further extracted, turned into capsules, or blended to create unique mixes of Kratom powder.

Once we have created the batches of Kratom desired, we package these for sale to our customers, ensuring that all vital information is included on our packaging so that you know exactly what you’re getting when you order from Left Coast Kratom.

That’s basically it! From leaf to product, Kratom goes through many different stages to be available as a natural botanical here in the U.S. Did you know that much went into the life cycle of Kratom products? It’s quite an adventure!
